'SHADOW MAGIC' 
SHADOW PUPPET MAKING WORKSHOP
Suitable for boys and girls 6 years and up

James and Felicity offer an exciting opportunity for children to enter into the magical world of shadow puppetry and to create their own shadow puppet to take home.


They begin by demonstrating various types of shadow puppets from far away and near to on our own shadow screen. Afterwards they will take the children through the steps to make a moving shadow puppet. 


When the puppets are made James and Felicity will demonstrate simple performance techniques before leading the children in presenting their own impromptu 'little shadow show' for friends and family that might wish to attend in the final 15 minutes of the session.


This is a hands-on experience using child-friendly scissors and glue sticks. A
ny child under 6 years will need adult supervision.

Running time: 2.5 hours

'THE PUPPETORIUM'

ROD PUPPET MAKING WORKSHOP

 Suitable for boys and girls 7 years and up

James and Dave set up 'The Puppetorium' offering the chance for children to immerse themselves in the curiously wonderful world of the puppet-maker. With an 'Aladdin's Cave' of found and re-cycled objects they prove how anything can be used to create a fantastic puppet. 


This extremely tactile workshop is designed to encourage children to work in a spontaneous way and to envision the least expected creations from what's to hand. It also promotes problem-solving and the opportunity to learn some of the 'tricks of the trade' working with an array of materials and tools to make their own puppet.


This workshop uses a variety of supervised construction techniques adaptable to age range / ability. Any child under 7 years will need adult supervision.

'HOWLING TALES'

Escapades with storytelling, soundscaping and shapeshifting.

Suitable for children 4 - 11 years

Felicity and James bring their passion and experience in performance and percussion to unleash children's natural impulse for imagination and rhythm.  

Using an infectiously fun blend of improvised storytelling, music making and movement they conjure up a wild tale of howling delight with
 children and their parents/carers. 

Felicity and James draw upon a wide range of percussion and tuned percussion instruments including djembe, balafon, bodhran, tabour, singing bowl and the enchanting steel tongue drum.

No musical experience is necessary for this workshop and all instruments are provided.

'AXE AGE-SWORD AGE'

WEAPONS AND WARFARE WORKSHOP

Suitable for boys and girls 7 years and up

Dave and James bring the Viking Age to your school or village hall with an impressive array of reconstructed clothing, armor, weapons and a few genuine Viking artifacts over a thousand years old, the children will learn how the Vikings fought in battle and what they wore!


This fun one hour workshop culminates in the children actively taking part in a Viking shield wall!

Using a fabulous array of realistic looking foam-latex weapons, shields and helmets the children will get an exciting ‘hands-on’ experience of what it felt like to be in Viking battle formation...under attack!
